People I look up to

My heros would include
Robert F. Kennedy
Martin Luther King, Jr.
The Warren Court (circ. mid 50's to late 60's )
Ray Meyer, Coach DePaul University
Jane Fonda (yeah I know! I am always getting grief for saying that)

Music I listen to

To tell you the truth there is not much new music I listen to. I listen to pretty much anything from Sinatra and Striesand to The Beatles and Led Zepplin. I do not really care for country music or Rap. I may not listen to a certain genre or artist, but I will never put any of it down or say any music is bad.

TV shows I watch

I am reality TV Show addict. Survivor, Amazing Race, Big Brother, American Idol, America's Got Talent.

Not big on the dance shows or the Bachelor/Bachlorette shows.

Movies I like

Goodfellas
The Godfather
Casino
Gone With The Wind
Sound of Music
Dr. Zhivago
(any) Marx Brothers movie
The Grapes of Wrath
Norma Rae
West Side Story
Ben-Hur
Wizard of Oz
Casablanca
Citizen Cane
The Graduate
Rounders

AND WHAT LIST WOULD BE COMPLETE WITHOUT
VIVA LAS VEGAS

I grew up in Chicago. i graduated from DePaul Univ. in 1976. I served in U.S. Army for 3 years w/1 year in Vietnam. I am what people call a bleeding heart liberal. I am proud of the label. I now live (more like being trapped) in Indiana.

Glad you like it--thanks. And yes, they are my sisters. This picture was taken on the morning of our trip in August. Living in a small town, it is easy to check in at the airport and leave for several hours. This was our dive lunch stop.

you must be referring to the dancing cats. The funny thing is I can not see it. All I get is the glitter script of Les. For some reason the new one will not show up to me.

    Thanks for the comment though.

Cripes Les, I just saw this. I don't come to this section often (obviously). I joined that board about 6 months after Gary did, back when he worked at the Sports Park, whatever year that was. And yes, I was a huge cheerleader for Rio back when Tony Marnell owned it. Me and Chitown (jolande) would call each other the Rio King & Queen. Ahhh, the good old days.

    Reply from Rounder:

Sorry for not getting back to you on this sooner Fozzy. I have been a little distracted with dealing with my daughter's situation lately.

I was just curious if Liverpool uses the Beatles as tourist thing to attract visitors to Liverpool. Have they turned any former homes or other places into tourist attractions? I know that in Memphis, here in the states the city not only has Graceland but there are many Elvis attactions. Does Liverpool do anything like that.

I read somewhere that the intersection of Abbey Road which is featured on the album cover draws people there to have their picture taken crossing the street like on the album. Are any of the places where they played in their early days still around and if so do they promote themselves as such?

It just seems to me that considering that since there is still so many Beatle fans around the world that thousands of people would would be making pilgramages to Liverpool. Am I overestimating the touristy (is that even a word?) value of Liverpool?

It is really too bad you did you did not get to experience The Taste. It is a wonderful experience and you should not let the crowds keep you away. I read about the shootings in Chicago Tribune. It was not inside the Taste, it was "near the area only" Also Second City is a great time too. You never know which of those cast members may end up on Saturday Night Live.

I sure hope you at least got to have a genuine Vienna Beef Chicago Style Hot Dog while you were in the city.

I can not even begin to describe to you how much I miss Chicago. I have not adjusted well to living in a small rural town.

Interesting facts about me

I worked in the visitors locker room at Wrigley Field as a teen. I took care of the uniforms for many players who are now in Baseball's Hall of Fame.

I spent 6 weeks in Australia. The greatest thing about Australia is it's friendly people.

I got to shake hands with all three Kennedy brothers, John, Bobby & Teddy. Not at same time but over a 12 year span.

On a more recent and more personal note; My wife, Amy and I have been married happily for nearly 16 years and we have a 15 year old daughter Kyra. The only trip I have ever taken to Vegas without Amy was the only trip that I did not have a great time, if that tells you anything.

Groovy quotes

The limits of Tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress. Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have the exact measure of the injustice and wrong which will be inflicted upon on them.
Frederick Douglas, 1863

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." -President George W. Bush, , Aug. 5, 2004
